چکیده
The cultivation of special corns, such as baby corn, has had a positive influence on the economy country. Despite its importance, there is still need for studies aimed at increasing production and planting areas crop. Phytosanitary are particular interest, crops susceptible to series pathogens, Bipolaris maydis, Exserohilum turcicum, Puccinia polysora. use resistant cultivars most effective way prevent occurrence these diseases. Thus, present study identify popcorn lines that have potential corn main leaf diseases affect experiment was conducted in randomized blocks with four replications 30 each area, during two seasons. area located Federal Institute Espírito Santo (IFES) Campus Alegre, situated Rive district, State, Brazil. Using obtained data, under disease progress curve obtained. Subsequently, analysis joint variance data conducted, when significant effect found, grouping means test conducted. Mahalanobis distance pair also calculated, genetic matrix used construct dendrogram using UPGMA method. Considering averages three (Southern blight, Northern Southern rust), L61, L63, L65, L683, L684, L685, L691, L694, L695 were identified possible donors resistance alleles multiple Multivariate efficiently grouped which described univariate analysis.

Field screening of experimental corn hybrids and inbred lines for multiple ear-feeding insect resistance.
Identifying and using native insect resistance genes is the core of integrated pest management. In this study, 10 experimental corn, Zea mays L., hybrids and 10 inbred lines were screened for resistance to major ear-feeding insects in the southeastern Coastal Plain region of the United States during 2004 and 2005. Ear-feeding insect damage was assessed at harvest by visual damage rating for the...
متن کاملQuantitative Trait Loci in Sweet Corn Associated with Partial Resistance to Stewart's Wilt, Northern Corn Leaf Blight, and Common Rust.
ABSTRACT Partial resistance to Stewart's wilt (Erwina stewartii, syn. Pantoea stewartii), northern corn leaf blight (NCLB) (Exserohilum turcicum), and common rust (Puccinia sorghi) was observed in an F(2:3) population developed from a cross between the inbred sweet corn lines IL731a and W6786. The objective of this study was to identify quantitative trait loci (QTL) associated with partial resi...
متن کاملProspecting of popcorn hybrids for resistance to fall armyworm.
The fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda, is the pest that causes the greatest economic losses for both common corn and popcorn crops, and the use of resistant plant genotypes is an important tool for integrated pest management. The goal of the present study was to evaluate the damage caused by S. frugiperda on single-cross popcorn hybrids under field conditions with natural infestation as well...
